E-challan Cameras To Be Operational In Bahawalpur From July 25
E-Challan System
Like other major cities of Punjab, Bahawalpur has now come fully under the Safe City Project. Modern traffic surveillance cameras have been fully activated in the city from July 25, 2025. Through these cameras, e-challans will be issued automatically for violations of traffic rules by citizens.
This initiative will not only force citizens to obey the rules but will also improve the traffic system in Bahawalpur. The aim of the Safe City project is to make the city safe and technology-friendly, where it is possible to monitor every vehicle and every movement.
At which locations will e-challan cameras be implemented?
In the first phase, these cameras have been installed at 13 important locations in Bahawalpur, from where challans will be issued for violations of traffic rules. The details of these locations are as follows:
- Solar Park Bypass Hasilpur Road
- Pull Shashmahi Chowk
- Picket Baghdad-Hasilpur Road
- Picket SPS-Ahmadpur Road
- Adda Mahind Sharif
- Dhuddi Plaza
- Katrian Check Post
- Underpass Railway Station
- Karachi Morr Bypass
- Judge Wali Pulli
- Old Bypass Asia Ghee Mills
- Bait Muaziz Din (Caltex Pump)
Citizens need to be especially careful at all these places, because in case of violations here, cameras will automatically take a picture and generate a challan.

E-challan Procedure
The e-challan system is a very modern system that has been developed on the lines of Safe City Lahore and Rawalpindi. As soon as a vehicle breaks the signal, moves in the wrong lane, or a motorcyclist is seen without a helmet, the cameras immediately take a picture and a challan is issued based on the registered number plate.
A copy of the challan is sent to the person’s home or mobile number via SMS, and can be paid online or at the nearest bank.
Potential Challenges Faced By The Public With e-Challan
While the implementation of the e-challan system will improve traffic discipline, it may also cause inconvenience to some citizens, especially those who were accustomed to driving in traditional ways.
In such a situation, public awareness campaigns, timely provision of information, and accuracy should be the top priority of the administration so that challans are not unnecessary or incorrect.

Government’s Vision & Public Responsibility
The Punjab government’s vision is to establish a safe, smart, and modern infrastructure-based traffic system, where law violations are not tolerated. But the government’s efforts alone are not enough – the public should also fully abide by traffic rules, wear helmets, fasten seat belts, and adopt the habit of stopping at red lights.
This is not only necessary to avoid challans but also indispensable to protect our lives.
Conclusion
The launch of the e-challan system in Bahawalpur from July 25, 2025 is a welcome step. This system will play an important role in improving traffic discipline, reducing the rate of accidents and teaching citizens to abide by the law.
Citizens should also follow the laws themselves and encourage others to do the same, so that we can all play our part in creating a safe and orderly society.
